Presentation

The Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering began its activities with the offering of a master's degree in August 1982. The core of the program is managed by the Department of Chemical Engineering, with a faculty comprising 29 PhD professors.

The growth and sophistication of the chemical industry have increasingly demanded scientific and technological research in the country. To meet this demand, it is essential to train professionals capable of addressing this challenge. This is precisely where graduate programs play a significant role.

The Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering aims to qualify professionals to work in research and development of chemical processes, linking the training of master's and doctoral students to scientific and technological work relevant to our country. This is achieved through projects that integrate both basic and applied areas of Chemical Engineering, such as the development and utilization of energy sources and the use of national raw materials.

The Master’s Program in Chemical Engineering is designed to last a maximum of two years. Candidates for the master’s degree are required to complete a minimum number of credits in courses, as well as develop a Master’s Dissertation.

The Doctoral Program in Chemical Engineering is designed to last a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years from the time of enrollment. Candidates for the doctoral degree must complete a minimum number of course credits and develop a Doctoral Thesis.

The Master’s Program in Chemical Engineering at PPG-EQ/UFSCar was officially recognized by the Federal Council of Education through Opinion 153/88 dated February 23, 1988, with retroactive effects to August 1985.

The implementation of the Doctoral Program in Chemical Engineering was approved through Ordinance GR 430/89 on June 29, 1989, and subsequently submitted to CAPES for analysis. In March 1990, the program admitted its first cohort of doctoral students, and during the same month, it was recommended by CAPES.

The Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering achieved a rating of 7 (the highest score, corresponding to international excellence) in the most recent evaluation by CAPES.
